Acelétron uses two linear electron-beam accelerators (LINAC) 18 kW power 10 MeV energy each.

The electron-beam is generated in a cathodic semiconductor, using electrical power and accelerated by the LINAC. In the system used by Acelétron the packaged products are carried by a conveyor and irradiated while passing in front of the electron-beam. The dose rate of each linear accelerator remains constant. The dose rate applied to product can be varied by setting the conveyor speed, whereby controlling the time of product exposure to the beam.

The electron-bam system used by Acelétron is designed to operate along the whole year 24 hours a day.
